Here's the general breakdown of your final grade:
- 1/3 Participation: Regardless of how much you actually get done, I want you to be able to work for a majority of the class period. Wasting time and breaking rules is bad for the class and bad for your future employment, so I want to encourage strong work ethic and good behavior.
- 1/3 Assignments (Canvas): I try to create assignments that (1) teach you how to do something and give you practice, (2) emulate real-life scenarios, and (3) are inherently enjoyable. Although a strong work ethic (participation) is extremely important, it's equally important to be able to learn how to use software and techniques and turn them into the correct file types.
- 1/3 Self-evaluation: I put a lot of emphasis on self-evaluation for two reasons: (1) reflecting on your own learning is good for learning, and (2) if you think I graded unfairly in any way, this will make up for it. It's a single score that students give themselves and it's put into the grade during the last week of the term.
